Once students have successfully completed their Advanced Training they become eligible for participation in the Advanced Clinical Skills, and the HeartMind Shiatsu Instructor Training.
Advanced Clinical Skills (70 hours)
In advanced Clinical Skills graduates participate in an on-going Graduate Clinic, offering HeartMind Shiatsu sessions to the public in an open clinic setting. The clinics are supported by clinical rounds in which they discuss their case-work with their colleagues and clinic supervisor. Periodically, day long trainings are held that offer continued refinement of technique, deepening understanding of theoretical constructs and ongoing practice building coaching.
HeartMind Shiatsu Instructor Training (on-going)
The primary development of instructional skill and talent in HeartMind Shiatsu Instructor Training is facilitated through Teaching Assistant positions available only to qualified graduates of the Advanced Training. Graduates who desire to eventually teach the course work attend and support all aspects of the classroom, including serving in-class student needs, assisting with handouts, homework grading, and otherwise assisting the smooth flowing of the classroom experience. Meetings with the Instructor before and after each class, as well as periodic tutorials and lesson planning activities fill out the training giving trainees the skill and confidence necessary to step level-by-level into the position of lead teacher.
