HeartMind Shiatsu Instructor Training
and Basic Training Repeat Option

The primary development of instructional skill in HeartMind Shiatsu is facilitated through Teaching Assistant positions available only to qualified graduates of our program.  Instructor Trainees attend and support all aspects of the training, including serving in-class student needs, assisting with handouts, homework grading, and otherwise assisting the smooth flowing of the classroom experience. Meetings with the Instructor before and after each class, as well as periodic tutorials and lesson planning activities fill out the training giving trainees the skill and confidence necessary to step level-by-level into the position of lead teacher.   The Certified HeartMind Shiatsu Instructor Training Program for Basic Training is open to graduates of the 150-hour HeartMind Shiatsu Basic Training and is designed to support our graduates with a continuing education opportunity to deepen their understanding of the HeartMind curriculum, to join in faculty meetings to shape the curriculum, and ultimately to support the new students to have a wonderful, harmonious, supportive and integrated learning experience.

Instructor Training Pre-requisites

Graduates of the 150-hour HeartMind Shiatsu Basic Training and those enrolled in the Intermediate Training may repeat and choose to enter Instructor Training. Those enrolled in Advanced Training will have higher level status as Instructor Trainees. Any graduate of the Basic Training from any previous training year may repeat the Basic Training at 50% off full tuition. Two additional small group tutorials are required for Instructor Trainees during the course of the repeat training.

 

Content

  • Attend all seminars 101-104 as an Instructor Trainee.
  • Attend Instructor/Instructor Trainee conferences 30 minutes before and after each class day.
  • Attend additional conferences as deemed necessary by the Instructor or requested by the Trainee.
  • Grade all student homework.
  • Schedule student tutorials and Student Clinics.
  • Study curriculum, keep time/content outline in class.
  • Complete Instructor Trainee homework as assigned.
  • Supervise Clinic and Practice Classes as needed (paid position).
    Take two additional Small Group Tutorials as an Instructor Trainee over the course of the training.

 

Instructor Training Tuition

Instructor Training Tuition is set at 50% off full tuition rates. Ask a counselor for specialized enrollment procedures.

 

Certification

Satisfactory completion of the above content will qualify the Trainee at the CHMSI Level 1 and grant eligibility to supervise Student Clinics and practice classes. Eligibility to be a lead teacher of curriculum levels will be granted based on student progress, clinical experience and demonstrated comfort with theoretical content and skill with the form.

HMS Instructor Certification Levels

 

  • Level 1 Instructor:

    This person has graduated from the Basic Training program and taken the Basic Training a second time as an Instructor Trainee and demonstrates familiarity and competency in the basic curriculum standards and learning objectives of 101 and 102. Upon completion, you will approved to lead practice classes and supervise Student Clinic. The eligibility to teach 101 and 102 as a Lead Instructor will be based on student progress, demonstrated comfort with theoretical content and comfort with the form.

  • Level 2 Instructor:

    This person has repeated the entire Basic Training twice as an Instructor Trainee and demonstrated a deepening familiarity and competency in the basic curriculum standards and learning objectives of the entire Basic Training, from 101-104. Upon completion of this program, agreement and proven readiness, you will be certified to Lead Teach Levels 101 through 104.

  • Level 3 Instructor:

    Is currently a level of competency in progress.  This enters into the work of developing teachers for the Advanced curriculum, and involves a similar rhythmic repetition of course work as a Teacher Trainee to establish familiarity and prove competency in the curricular learning objectives of each level of training 201-204. This program is still in the concept stages and to be developed as the program and faculty develop.
